KBA Engineering Inc. is a Full-Service Engineering Consulting firm founded 1999 in Tampa, Florida by Kevin G. Carlson, PE, LEED®, AP. The company has designed building systems for projects throughout the country from the east coast of Florida and the Fiji Islands. We provide a high level of service to every project we serve. Electrical engineering consulting services with a strong commitment to providing a building owner with the appropriate design to meet the specific needs of each individual project. Implementation of AutoCAD and Revit computer aided design and drafting programs to increase speed and accuracy in producing construction documents.
Kevin is a member of the USGBC with experienced LEED® Accredited design professionals. Energy efficient designs employed include photovoltaic systems, daylight harvesting controls, LED street lighting systems, and LEED® compliant sports lighting systems.

Mr. Kevin Carlson is the President of KBA Engineering, Inc. which he established in 1999. Through his steadfast leadership, and calm demeanor, Kevin has created a culture in which the KBA team members can thrive. He has established a reputation as a firm that operates with integrity, honesty, and commitment to engineering excellence.
Kevin has extensive experience in providing electrical engineering services for a wide variety of health care facilities, commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential facilities. He also worked at Tampa Electrical Company with several assignments in the Energy Delivery Department including transmission and distribution system engineering, planning and operations.

He has developed an expertise in designing electrical systems with high levels of complexity for schools, health care facilities, commercial buildings, office buildings, restaurants, and retail projects. His day-to-day tasks to facilitate these designs include analyze building electrical systems; fire alarm, data, and low voltage system design; Power Studies; TCC Curves, Arc Fault and AFC Studies, Equipment selection; Energy Code compliance; Construction Administration submittals review and shop drawings. Additionally, Austin develops KBA engineering standards and supervises the designs developed by KBA staff.

Trevor is a detail-oriented, committed, and hard-working individual who has been with KBA since graduation from USF in 2009. He has extensive experience in designing electrical systems with high levels of complexity for schools, health care facilities, commercial buildings, office buildings, restaurants, and retail projects. His day-to-day tasks to facilitate these designs include analyze building electrical systems; fire alarm, data, and low voltage system design; Power Studies; TCC Curves, Arc Fault and AFC Studies, Equipment selection; Energy Code compliance; Construction Administration submittals review and shop drawings. Trevor is highly skilled in both Revit & AutoCAD for the purpose of producing construction documents and is integral in maintaining company-wide production standards.
Trevor also directs the IT Systems Operations at KBA. His responsibilities include budgeting, procurement, implementation, and system operations.

Scott is a driven, reliable, and determined individual who has been with KBA since the firm started in 1999. His contributions are woven into the fabric of KBA’s reputation and culture on every level. He has a wealth of experience in designing electrical systems for schools, commercial, institutional, multi-unit residential, and industrial facilities. His day-to-day tasks to facilitate these designs include analyze building electrical systems; fire alarm, data, and low voltage system design; ensure compliance with current codes; developing construction documents; and supporting projects through construction administration services. Dozens of engineering students have established the foundation of their professional career through Scott’s tutelage while working as a student intern at KBA.
